All student members of GMHS Choral Department are eligible to earn a choir letter. Points are given to each choir member for participation in various choir activities. Accumulation begins in the ninth grade and continues through the twelfth grade. The director keeps a folder containing all point totals. At any time, a student may look at his/her point totals.
All reports and documentation for points must be turned in no later than MAY 1, 2008.
The awards are as follows:
Choir letter – 650 points Bronze Pin – 1350 points
Silver Pin – 2050 points Gold Pin – 2750 points
Honor Pin – 3450 points Reversed Letter – 4150 points
Points are earned in the following ways: Maximum Points
1. Membership in one or more of the choral groups 75
(25 points per group per year)
2. Rehearsal attendance (daily and evening) 180-220
(1 point each) Negative points may be given.
3. Participation in choral performances 200-250
(10 points per performance) Negative points may be given.
4. Choir Office 50
(50 points per year)
5. Spring Musical Involvement 50-100
(Major, Minor, or Supporting Role)
6. Recruiting new choir members unlimited
(50 points per member) Must be documented.
7. Concert attendance other than GMHS Choral Concerts unlimited
A critique of each concert must be turned in with the
Program in order to receive credit. Please include
specific and general remarks about content. (10 points each)
8. Involvement in community performances (This may include unlimited
special church related performances, but may not include
regular Sunday performances.) (10 points each performance –
must bring documentation for file)
9. Private Study (Vocal or Instrumental) 150
(5 points per lesson)
10. Extra Effort 80
(20 points per quarter)
11. Music tests – mid term and final exams. Below 70 = 0 pts; 70-79=5pts; 120
80-89=15pts; 90-100=30pts.
